The Egyptian Figure - Queen Nefertari

The Egyptian Figure - Introduction

The artistic process used to create the time-worn effect in this painting of an Egyptian head is a mixed media technique called Paper Batik.

The art materials you will need to produce this are a charcoal pencil (or stick), a heavy grade paper, a paintbrush with poster paint or watercolour, and a bottle of Indian ink.

This head was drawn from a painting of Queen Nefertari, based on an image from her tomb in the Valley of the Queens.

You can click here to get a simple A4 line drawing of her head to help you with your drawing.

Alternatively, if you wish to choose a different head to work from, you can try our Egyptian Crowns or Egyptian Gods pages where you will also find links to more simplified line drawings.

Click the forward button to the next page and follow the step by step demonstration of how this image was created............
